How attractive is Azerbaijan for doing business

The Best Baku Sightseeing 2026
If you plan to go sightseeing, I can assure you it is a very good place. The city is well-respected, and visiting it is a unique experience. Haider Ali’s signature-style buildings, beautiful white museums, and city centers are very impressive. Baku’s old city, recognized by UNESCO, is also a major attraction.
The city hosts Formula One races on certain streets, and the old gardens and historic roads together create a complete experience. It is also a great place to enjoy food, drinks, and take photographs. Based on our experience, you cannot fully explore the city in just four to five days, but you can rest and enjoy your time. I stayed for 10–11 days and managed to see areas outside the main city and visit old mausoleums.
Business Opportunities in Baku
Regarding business, profitability depends on whether you have prior experience. If you are inexperienced, it may not be as comfortable as doing business in London or Dubai. There are people from India and Pakistan who have succeeded there, and some have achieved high positions. Some suppress opportunities, and students may need to work hard in their industries or colleges before progressing. However, there are also false promises, sometimes encouraged by older locals.
The city is not too large, and Baku’s population is moderate. Bread is relatively affordable, and the total cost of living is around two crore rupees. In areas with minimal crime, doing business is easier, but I cannot fully predict outcomes in just 10–11 days.
People come from Russia, Turkey, and Central Asia for business. If you want to expand your business, temporary permits and immigration forms are available. If you are traveling from here, do not take a tourist visa; go under the business category so that you can apply for permits locally and advance your projects.
Property Investment and Legal Residency
If you do not want to run a business but want to keep your work legal with India or Pakistan, you can buy property in Baku. For example, purchasing property worth 110,000 gives you local residency status. After a few years, you can relocate easily. However, I cannot guarantee local acceptance.
Jogging and fitness opportunities are good. I have also mentioned property and economics. You can establish your business legally there.
Education Opportunities in Azerbaijan
For education, Baku has a medical college, and Pakistani students can study there. Central Asian students also come to study. Some stay in hostels or low-cost accommodations. Students should plan carefully and not rely on unknown agents, as some have faced difficulties trusting strangers.
Tourism and Small Business Advice
Some may think, “Tourists can open small businesses,” but even minor services require preparation. My advice is to first go on a visit, see the city, and then plan actions. If you have never done business before, starting immediately may be risky. Language barriers and unfamiliarity with local systems make it challenging. Young people should first focus on establishing their careers in their home country. Once established, they can expand internationally or work remotely from home.
Lifestyle and Culture in Baku
Azerbaijan, especially Baku, is very suitable for travel and business. It is beautiful, safe, and organized. Food is moderate in spices; cheese is commonly eaten for breakfast. People are polite, calm, and respectful, though they do not smile excessively. Women work actively, and morning markets are lively and organized. Energy conservation is noticeable, and hotels have efficient systems.
Healthcare and Infrastructure
Hospitals provide good services; if children fall sick, doctors come to the home. Free healthcare is available in many instances. Tourism is high, with around 40 lakh visitors per year in a population of 22 crore. Infrastructure is improving, and a small freeport is being built, where money can move freely. Oil and gas resources are managed efficiently. Weather is generally pleasant.
Conclusion
In conclusion, visiting Azerbaijan is highly recommended. I advise subscribing to local business updates and keeping your business legal. Students can study there, but avoid shortcuts and agents to prevent trouble.
