How to obtain a residence permit in Azerbaijan?

Dear friends, hello everyone! I often receive questions from our clients — mostly from buyers — asking how to obtain a residence permit (VNZH) in Azerbaijan. In this blog I want to explain in detail several ways to get a VNZH to live in our country.

You don’t have to be a citizen — it's enough to obtain the desired residence permit (VNZH), which, by the way, comes with quite a few benefits:
  • Unlimited travel to the country without a visa
  • The ability to run a business or get a job
  • Access to free healthcare
  • The opportunity to purchase real estate
There are different ways to obtain a residence permit — it all depends on your possibilities:
1. Investing in the economy
You can obtain a VNZH by investing in Azerbaijan’s economy. You’ll need to invest at least 500,000 manats.
Alternatively, you can buy property, and the value of the purchased real estate must be at least 100,000 manats.
2. Opening a bank deposit
You can also get a VNZH by opening a deposit in an Azerbaijani bank with a minimum amount of 100,000 manats.
3. Starting a business
Starting your own business is another option. One of the conditions is that you must hire at least 5 employees, and 80% of them must be Azerbaijani citizens.
4. Entering a university
If you are accepted into a university in Azerbaijan, you can obtain a residence permit for the duration of your studies.
5. Receiving a job offer
If an Azerbaijani employer is interested in hiring you, this is a simple and reliable way to get a VNZH.
6. Family reunification
If your close relatives — such as your parents, spouse, or child — already have a VNZH or permanent residency (PMJ), you can apply based on family reunification.
7. Being a head of a foreign company branch
If you are the head or deputy head of a foreign company’s branch in Azerbaijan, this also qualifies you to apply for a VNZH.
BONUS:
If you have lived continuously in Azerbaijan for 2 years on a temporary residence permit, you can apply for permanent residency (PMJ).

We will arrange a meeting with a World Immigration Hub specialist for you in person or online format

During the meeting, the specialist will:

  • Explain how we work and how we can help you.
  • Explain the immigration process step-by-step, presenting the roadmap, budget, and financial requirements.
  • Share our immigration experience and discuss key points you should know before starting your journey.
  • Determine the next steps together with you.

Depending on the project’s complexity, the meeting with the manager may be coordinated with experts, designers, and assistants.
